We (a family of 5 adults and a toddler) are so lucky to have found Coo on our trip to Kyoto. He was engaging and thoughtful during our 1 hour photo shoot and interacted so easily with our 3 year old. The time was early in the morning and in addition to the bamboo forest Coo also took us to a few more scenic spots including a beautiful river and bridge. I used Coo as my photographer for my recent proposal to my long time partner in Kyoto and I could not have done it without his help. From the very start he was extremely helpful in selecting a location in helping me select the best location in Kyoto to propose in considering the weather at the time, crowds that would be around, and what the lighting would be like at that time of day. During the proposal itself, he was extremely professional, did a great job in helping surprise my partner, and took amazing photos of the event and afterwards. BEST DECISION for our Family Vacation!! Highly recommend and something you won’t regret doing. Traveling as a family of five (kids ages 7, 5 and 3), it is very unlikely that they will remember the entire trip. I wanted a keepsake that all five of us can look at for years to remember us being together in Japan. Every special occasion, I always look back at it thinking “I wish I took more pictures”. This time I planned a professional to help me with executing that plan. Coo made it seamless. He suggested photo shoot locations and other tips for our travel, he made it VERY easy to meet-up with him, punctual, spoke English VERY well, very quick turnover in getting our photos (we got it a couple days after we came back from our trip) and extremely nice and friendly. Coo was so patient with my wild and crazy kids…and to his credit, got us all looking and smiling (which was something not achieved with the rest of the family photos from our trip). We hope to find a photographer again for another family vacation…but Coo set the bar so high, it will be hard to match.

My husband and I had an amazing photoshoot with Coo! We’ve done three vacation photoshoots in the past, all of which have been great. Coo made this vacation photoshoot the best one yet! He provided timely and clear communication before and after. We chose Kyoto’s Philosopher’s Path and Coo shared his knowledge about the area and its history as we walked to the different areas. It was also very crowded and Coo was able to easily and quickly frame the pictures as if we were the only ones there. He provided suggestions on how to pose and made the experience fun and comfortable. Coo also provided some recommendations of places to visit. His passion for photography shows through his attention to detail. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does. Overall, Coo made the entire process smooth and stress-free. We plan to return to Japan with our extended family, and will definitely book another photoshoot with Coo!

COO IS AMAZING!!! I was searching for a local Japan-based photographer to take family photos during our vacation. I found Coo on Instagram and loved his photography style. I sent an inquiry on his website and despite the time zone difference (PST vs Tokyo) he responded very quickly within 20 minutes. We proceeded to communicate via WhatsApp and he was very friendly, helpful and responsive to my many questions. He helped us select the ideal location for our shoot, making great recommendations and sharing samples of his photography with other clients in those location options. He was very communicative in the weeks leading up to the shoot, before we even traveled to Japan. He even provided us with tons of recommendations of places to eat and visit that I referenced in planning our trip. Coo was great at providing confirmation, reminders and clear communication of where to meet and how to get to the location. On the day of the shoot, he sent a photo of himself that day so we could easily spot him. During the photoshoot itself, Coo was so friendly and easy to work with. My 5-year old is not keen on strangers, but she took to Coo right away and was extremely cooperative throughout the shoot – all our photos turned out great and he was able to get her to smile naturally! She was so comfortable that she also had her own ideas for him on where and how she wanted to pose!
The shoot was only an hour but we also had the bonus of Coo essentially being our tour guide for an hour and walking us through a number of key sites in the area. He was very efficient and we had many beautiful photos in a range of backdrops to choose from. Here are just two examples from our shoot. The shoot itself was a fantastic and fun experience with Coo. As a bonus, Coo was very quick to turn around and deliver our photos — we took photos in the morning and were still exploring Kyoto that afternoon when he sent the link the the full set! His typical turn around time is 5 days and he certainly overdelivered! We really enjoyed our shoot with Coo and highly recommend him for anyone wanting to take beautiful photos and capture memories in Japan!
