This lovely couple traveled from the UK during sakura season after becoming engaged in Tokyo. Rather than planning a formal proposal in Kyoto, they wanted to celebrate their engagement with a relaxed and natural photoshoot surrounded by Kyoto’s beautiful cherry blossoms. Because avoiding crowds was important to them, we chose an early morning session along the famous Philosopher’s Path, one of Kyoto’s most picturesque cherry blossom locations. The peaceful atmosphere, soft morning light, and full-bloom sakura created the perfect setting for timeless engagement photographs. As two people who are not natural models or comfortable in front of the camera, Coo instantly put us at ease and made it a super enjoyable and relaxed session. What should we wear?
Solid colors and soft neutral tones photograph beautifully against Kyoto’s cherry blossoms. Unless you have a specific fashion concept, I recommend avoiding busy stripes, large logos, or multiple bright colors. If you would like to wear high heels for the photos, bringing comfortable walking shoes for moving between locations is a great idea.
What happens if it rains?
Light rain can actually create beautiful and romantic photographs in Kyoto. I always monitor the weather forecast carefully and can recommend schedule adjustments or alternative locations when necessary.
